THE TEAM
Becky Bartram
Optical Assistant
Since joining DH Thomas in 2017 as part of the front of house team, I have had the opportunity to study for my Optical Diploma. It was a pleasure to be supported by our professional team and to draw upon their considerable wealth of knowledge & experience. These expertise allow me to perform a varied role, so you may see me at reception or I may be helping you select some new frames. In 2021 the DH Thomas team celebrated my wedding, after a number of COVID related cancellations and in 2022 we were thrilled to welcome our daughter. Since returning from maternity leave part-time, I have taken on an admin based role, which has given me a great work-life balance.
Kier Mustoe
Dispensing Optician
I began my career in Optics over 25 years ago, completing my Ophthalmic Dispensing Optician diploma in 2002. Working for an independent practice in East London for 18 years and spending time working for an optical startup and for well-known high-street opticians has given me broad and engaging experiences. I started a family in 2008 and have worked part-time since then. With a desire to continually improve my professional competencies, I successfully completed a Vision Science Honours Degree when I started with DH Thomas in the spring of 2022. I moved to the Saffron Walden 5 years ago and enjoy daily dog walks around the fields or the grounds of Audley End. It is such a vibrant town with a welcoming community that I feel lucky to be able to work and raise my children here.
Susan Thomson
Optometrist
Having lived and worked on four continents, I am now happily settled at DH Thomas in Saffron Walden. My Optometry career has been varied with many years working in both hospital and primary care environments. My professional interests lie in Glaucoma, Paediatrics and Low Vision and I have attained higher college certificates in both Glaucoma and Paediatric eye care. My joys are my family, my dog and the great outdoors.
Kelly
Optometrist
Following relevant work experience at college, I was inspired to pursue a career in eye care. Remaining in Cambridge following graduation, has allowed me to build a strong network of collaboration between universities, hospitals and many optical practices in and around Cambridge, and of course build continuity of relationships with patients over two decades. In addition to high street practice, I have worked as a glaucoma specialist at VERI, a pre-registration student supervisor and lecturer at ARU and as an OSCE optometry examiner. I believe that a positive, open-minded attitude, combined with the latest scientific and technical approach, can go a long way to help meet all of your ocular requirements.
Kinjal Patel
Optometrist
I originally worked as a Dispensing Optician before gaining a degree in both Orthoptics and Optometry. I have clinical experience in a number of eye hospitals and independent practices throughout the United Kingdom and taught undergraduate Optometry at City University London. To further expand my scope of practice I emigrated to Canada where I earned my Doctorate in Optometry. I enjoyed many years of career and lifestyle opportunities in Canada before returning home to settle down with my family. My professional interests are in adult and paediatric binocular vision and I’m passionate about finding solutions to challenging visual problems. I have also participated in charitable work overseas by support of my local rotary club. Outside of practice you may catch me in the squash court smashing the ball or racket depending on how his game is going.
Nathan Sivajoti
Optometrist
Growing up in Yorkshire and studying in Manchester means I’m still a Northerner at heart! I spent the first few years of my professional career in high street optometry in Cambridge, heavily involved in training pre-registration optometrists. I also sat on the Clinical Partnership Panel for Boots Opticians, before taking a career break in 2019 to travel with my wife. In August 2020 I was thrilled to join DH Thomas as an optometrist. The passion for truly exceptional & tailored eyecare runs throughout our team, which makes it a thoroughly rewarding place to be. In January 2023, I became a company director. A role I look forward to enjoying for some years to come. Outside of DH Thomas, I play cricket & golf regularly and will watch any sport put in front of me.
